The National Counter-Terrorism Committee (NCTC) took part in the 17th Meeting of the GCC Permanent Committee for Combating Terrorism which was held during the period (3rd – 4th) September 2024 at the GCC Secretariat General in Riyadh. The meeting discussed several relevant topics, and accordingly adopted a number of recommendations.

NCTC participates in awareness session organized by Ministry of Social Development

The National Counterterrorism Committee (NCTC) participated in the awareness workshop organized by the Ministry of Social Development on 5th June 2024 on "Combating Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing." The workshop was attended by a number of the Ministry's specialists and representatives of civil society institutions. The workshop was aimed at enhancing the understanding of the risks of money laundering and terrorism financing, patterns of targeting the civil society institutions by terrorist entities, and the preventive measures taken by the Sultanate of Oman to address these crimes; in addition to informing the society about the methods of reporting targeted financial suspicions.

Oman’s National Centre for Financial Information signs MoU with Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU)

The National Centre for Financial Information (NCFI) and Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) have signed today, Monday, June 3rd 2024 a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in the field of exchange of information related to money laundering, associated predicate offenses and terrorism financing to enhance mutual cooperation, coordinate efforts and benefit from experiences and expertise. The MOU has been inked during the Plenary of The Egmont Group of Financial Intelligence Units (FIUs) held in Paris.

Oman’s National Centre for Financial Information signs MoU with Libya’s FIU

The National Centre for Financial Information (NCFI) signed on 22nd May 2024 a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Libya`s Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) in the field of the exchange of information related to money laundering, associated predicate offenses and terrorism financing with the aim of enhancing mutual cooperation aspects, coordinate efforts, as well as the exchange of information, practices and experiences.

Terrorism Finance Targeting Center Holds Discussions on the Financial System in the South Region

The National Counterterrorism Committee (NCTC) participated on 15th May, 2024, in discussions organized by the Terrorism Financing Targeting Center (TFTC) on assessing the status of the financial system in the South Region and its ability to confront the financing attacks and security breaches by terrorist financiers. The discussions were held at the Center's headquarters in Riyadh.
